Our aim is to educate registered nurses across primary and tertiary care about the specialised management of patients with cirrhosis of the liver. By sharing evidence-based protocols and guidelines, and using specific case studies, this APNA and ACN endorsed course will give nurses the knowledge and confidence required to care for patients with advanced liver disease.

Key learning outcomes include:

  • list the main causes of advanced liver disease

  • assess for the signs and symptoms of advanced liver disease

  • identify the complications of advanced liver disease and briefly describe their management

  • describe the components of a care plan for patients with advanced liver disease

  • outline referral pathways for patients with advanced liver disease

  • outline how you can provide nursing support for patients with advanced liver disease in your practice
