This comprehensive course is designed to strengthen the capacity of clinical staff working in primary care settings to effectively diagnose, assess, manage and treat hepatitis C.
This course is delivered in 2 parts: Part 1 consists of an eLearning component of approximately 2.5 hours' duration. Part 2 consists of an interactive face-to-face workshop that builds on the knowledge and skills gained in Part 1 through case study discussions facilitated in small groups.
Learning Objectives
•Screen at risk patients, order and interpret tests appropriately to diagnose chronic hepatitis C infection
•Perform the recommended baseline assessment including assessing liver disease severity and screening for potential drug-drug interactions, evaluate patient treatment readiness and manage any associated comorbidities
•Explain approved antiviral treatment options and duration of therapy for all HCV genotypes based on prior treatment experience and cirrhotic status
•Prescribe HCV antiviral therapy in accordance with PBS patient and prescriber eligibility criteria
•Recognise risk factors, clinical signs, symptoms and complications of advanced liver disease and manage or refer to specialist care appropriately

Registration Cancellations:
Registration cancellations and amendments must be notified in writing to ASHM. Cancellations received before 19 February 2020 will not incur a cancellation fee. Cancellations received in writing after19 February 2020 will incur a $70 per day cancellation fee. This fee may be waived in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of ASHM.
Substitutions:
As an alternative to cancellation, your registration may be transferred to another person without incurring any penalty. ASHM must be advised of the transfer in writing. Please email the name, position, phone and email address of the new delegate to education@ashm.org.au.
