ANF holds serious concerns re TAFE undergraduate nursing course
(04/09/2008)
|
ANF federal office has recently lodged a submission with the Nurses Board of Victoria (NBV) in response to an NBV Discussion Paper on Bachelor of Nursing courses in TAFE. The submission outlined the ANF?s serious concerns about a proposal in Victoria in which the VET sector is seeking to offer the undergraduate Bachelor of Nursing course. ANF believes any move to shift undergraduate nursing and midwifery education out of the university sector has the potential to undermine the educational standards of the nursing profession in Australia, threaten public confidence in the quality and safety of care provided by graduating nurses, and should not be supported.
Included with the ANF submission are position statements from both the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council (ANMC) and Council of Deans of Nursing and Midwifery (CDNM) supporting the delivery of nationally consistent nursing and midwifery education in universities.
